At Amarysso LLC, our mission is to provide brides with customized, handmade wedding items and services that enhance their celebration. I named my company Amarysso from the Greek meaning to sparkle, but also because of the love story of Amarysso and Alteo.
The Myth of Amarysso and Alteo
Amarysso was a timid, shy shepherdess who was deeply in love with Alteo, a handsome shepherd and gardener. Alteo had the physical beauty of Apollo and the power of Hercules, and he did not return Amarysso's affection. Alteo had a passion for flowers and had claimed he would only fall in love with a maiden who brought him a new, unique flower that had never existed before.
Desperate to win his affection, Amarysso consulted the Oracle of Delphi. The Oracle instructed her to go to Alteo's door every night, dressed in white for 30 days and pierce her heart with a golden arrow to prove her love. For 30 days, Amarysso followed these instructions, piercing her heart and shedding blood on Alteo's doorstep, hoping he would notice her devotion.
On the 30th day, a stunning, never-before-seen blood-red flower grew from the spot where her blood had fallen. Alteo opened his door, saw the extraordinary flower, and immediately fell in love with Amarysso, healing her heart. Aleto named the flower Amaryllis in her honor.
Love, loyalty, strength and determination are both the foundation of the story as well as the foundation of a good marriage.
